We are delighted to announce that Prof. Luis M. Liz-Marzán, a member of the Materials and Interfaces Editorial Advisory Board, was awarded the first Dong Qin ACS Award in Nanochemistry. The award aims to “recognize creative and impactful research by an investigator in the area of nanochemistry.”
Luis M. Liz-Marzán is a PhD from the University of Santiago de Compostela and an Ikerbasque Professor at CIC biomaGUNE, where he also leads a node of the Biomedical Research Networking Center: Bioengineering, Biomaterials and Nanomedicine (Ciber-BBN). He additionally holds a part-time chair at the University of Vigo. He is recognized for his work on the application of colloid chemistry to the field of nanoplasmonics. He has been one of the pioneers in the colloidal synthesis of metal nanoparticles, with relevant contributions toward the control over the morphology of such nanoparticles, as well as toward tailoring nanoparticle surface chemistry and self-assembly.
The Dong Qin ACS Award in Nanochemistry, named for Dr. Dong Qin, professor of Materials Science and Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, was established in 2024. The purpose of establishing this award is to recognize creative and impactful research by an investigator in the area of nanochemistry. The award consists of $5,000 and a certificate, as well as reimbursed travel expenses to ACS Spring 2026.
Please join us in congratulating Prof. Luis M. Liz-Marzán on this exceptional achievement!
Kind regards,
Materials and Interfaces Editorial Office
