Brain, AI and Cognition (BAIC) is a gold open-access, peer-reviewed journal and publish research at the intersection of artificial intelligence, neuroscience, cognitive science, and brain-inspired computing. The journal provides a forum for studies in which AI methods advance the understanding of neural and cognitive processes, as well as research that draws inspiration from brain function, cognition, and biological intelligence to develop new computational paradigms. It is published quarterly online by Scilight Press.
The journal welcomes contributions spanning computational neuroscience and computational psychiatry, NeuroAI, cognitive modelling, brain–computer interfaces, brain-imaging foundation models, imaging genetics, neuromorphic computing and sensing, brain intelligence on the edge, digital twinning, and biologically inspired machine learning. It also publishes work on multimodal and language-based AI, mechanistic interpretability, evaluation and benchmarking, trustworthy and responsible AI, and human–AI interaction when these topics contribute to understanding cognition, intelligence, learning, perception, decision-making, or brain function.
Areas of application include neuroscience, medicine and healthcare, cognitive technologies, assistive systems, robotics, and emerging forms of intelligent computing. The journal encourages methodological, theoretical, experimental, and translational studies that bridge disciplines and advance the scientific understanding of natural and artificial intelligence.
