Abstract

It has become fashionable to celebrate anniversaries of, among other subjects, crucial steps in science. The Standard Model (SM) of particles and forces is not an exception. I shall emphasize the fact that “the community” was not always aware of the obvious: that the SM is a convincing contender for being part of “the truth”. . . and always was. In this writeup many figures reproduce good old times’ transparencies, a touch of nostalgia.
