Aims & Scope

Aims:

The Journal of Social Physics (J. Soc. Phys.) is a gold open-access, peer-reviewed journal that aims to be a premier platform for disseminating cutting-edge research in the broadly understood field of Social Physics. This includes Sociophysics, Econophysics and overlaps with Computational Social Science. The journal fosters interdisciplinary research and welcomes contributions from physicists, computer scientists, and social scientists.

The Journal of Social Physics (J. Soc. Phys.) is published quarterly online by Scilight Press.

Scope:

Big Data–driven empirical studies on social systems: Description and analysis of data on human interactions from communication, new media, online collaboration, and other sources.

Agent-based modelling of social systems: Modelling social phenomena at various scales, from simplified “physics-type” approaches aimed at understanding mechanisms, to detailed models with the ambition of quantitative prediction.

Econophysics: Application of concepts, models, and methods from physics —particularly statistical physics and complex systems theory — to the study of economic and financial systems.

Network science approaches to social systems: Characterization of the structure and dynamics of online and offline social networks, including topics such as social contagion, epidemic spreading, opinion dynamics, and political polarization.

Theory: Theoretical foundations of social complexity, including the evolution of social systems, analogies and distinctions between physical and social systems, and overarching principles of collective behavior.

Sociophysics: Application of concepts, models, and methods of physics to social phenomena.
