Aims & Scope

Aim

Habitable Planet is a peer reviewed international interdisciplinary open access journal belonging to the International Association for Gondwana Research (IAGR). The journal aims to promote high quality research publications across diverse fields of Earth and Environmental Sciences covering the history of evolution of planet Earth, resources, hydrosphere, biosphere and atmosphere, particularly focusing on habitability. Interdisciplinary topics of natural hazards, environment-related socio-economic issues, and intercultural aspects in the context of sustainability are also considered. The journal also welcomes contributions on studies related to planetary equivalents. The  journal aims to promote and disseminate scientific information among researchers, students, academics as well as policy and decision makers with a view to serving the global community. The journal is published biannually in partnership with Scilight Press.

Scope

Habitable Planet provides an interdisciplinary platform for high quality research papers and insightful reviews on planetary habitability, geodynamic evolution of continent-ocean-atmosphere-life systems and environment, as well as sustainable future of the planet. The journal welcomes contributions covering, but not limited to, the following topics:

  • Geological and tectonic processes associated with the evolution of Earth
  • Habitability of Earth and planetary equivalents
  • Continental dynamics, ocean-atmosphere systems, and life evolution
  • Magmatism, sedimentary records, and metamorphism through time and space
  • Mineral systems: origin, preservation and exploration pathways
  • Geophysical and geodynamic modeling of Earth’s interior
  • Earthquakes, landslide, flood, drought and other natural hazards
  • Geobiology in relation to Earth systems
  • Geoheritage linking geosystems, society, and sustainability
  • Resource, climate, and environmental challenges in the context of Sustainable Development Goals
