Ionic Materials and Devices (IMD) invite original research, reviews, and perspectives on next-generation high-energy-density rechargeable batteries. Key areas of interest include, but are not limited to, alkali metal battery systems (lithium/sodium/potassium batteries, solid-state batteries, lithium-sulfur chemistries, etc.) and multivalent ion battery (magnesium/calcium/zinc/aluminum), covering electrode/electrolyte materials and device design. We strongly encourage contributions on innovative material design, guided by theoretical, computational and synthetic methodologies, with advanced in situ/operando characterization and multi-scale modelling to elucidate ion transport kinetics, interfacial evolution, electrochemical processes, and degradation mechanisms. Our goal is to curate high-impact work that bridges innovative material concepts and scientific insights with practical device applications to enhance energy density, safety, and cycling stability of rechargeable batteries.
