Aims:

Atmospheric Horizons (AtmH) is an international, peer-reviewed journal for frontier and interdisciplinary research on the atmosphere as a dynamic, reactive, and connected component of Earth and planetary systems. The journal seeks to publish studies that advance mechanistic understanding, predictive capability, and actionable solutions for atmospheric change, air quality, weather and climate risk, and atmospheric evolution. AtmH especially welcomes work that crosses conventional disciplinary boundaries, links observations, experiments, theory, models, and data science, and opens new conceptual, methodological, or translational directions for atmospheric research. AtmH is published quarterly online by Scilight Press.

Scope:

The scope of AtmH is organised around emerging scientific questions, cross-system connections, and enabling methods rather than exhaustive disciplinary coverage. The journal welcomes innovative contributions in areas including:

  • Cross-scale atmospheric processes: chemistry, dynamics, aerosols, clouds, radiation, boundary layers, precipitation, and circulation as coupled and evolving systems.
  • Air quality-climate-health nexus: indoor-outdoor pollution, exposure, environmental justice, health impacts, and solution-oriented atmospheric science.
  • Extremes, predictability, and climate risk: compound events, rapid attribution, early warning, resilience, adaptation, and climate services in a changing atmosphere.
  • Earth-system feedbacks and environmental transitions: atmosphere-land-ocean-cryosphere-biosphere coupling, carbon-climate interactions, urbanisation, and carbon-neutral pathways.
  • Next-generation atmospheric discovery: remote sensing, field and laboratory platforms, new instruments, open datasets, artificial intelligence, data assimilation, hybrid models, and digital twins.
  • Planetary and comparative horizons: planetary and exoplanet atmospheres, atmospheric evolution, climate diversity, habitability, and insights transferable to Earth system science.

AtmH welcomes original research articles, reviews, perspectives, methods papers, data papers, and other scholarly contributions that demonstrate clear scientific novelty, methodological rigour, and broad relevance. Regional, event-based, or case-study submissions are encouraged when they yield transferable mechanisms, methods, datasets, comparisons, or policy insight rather than purely descriptive coverage.

The journal aims to serve atmospheric scientists and researchers working at the interfaces of environmental science, climate science, Earth system science, public health, data science, engineering, and planetary science.
