Aims & Scope

Aims:

Fungal Diseases (FunDis) is a gold open-access journal and aims to offer an attractive publication platform for high quality research addressing infectious diseases caused by fungal pathogens. FunDis is seeking contributions addressing a broad spectrum of infections caused by pathogenic fungi in humans, animals, insects and plants. Manuscripts on mixed infections or superinfections by bacterial or parasitic pathogens are also welcome but not considered with high priority. FunDis is published quarterly online by Scilight Press.

Scope:

FunDis invites manuscripts relying upon cellular, molecular, biochemical and biophysical approaches to decipher fungal pathophysiology including host responses.

FunDis is interested to receive manuscripts with omics datasets (transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics) on host-pathogen interactions. omics datasets require a reasonable experimental validation in primary cellular or organismic models to justify an in-depth evaluation by external reviewers.

FunDis will consider manuscripts addressing food and environmental pathogens, as well as opportunistic fungi affecting immunocompromised hosts, including those originating from the microbiota or domesticated animal hosts as well as zoonotic wildlife agents.

FunDis welcomes studies on public and environmental health related to pathogenic fungi, as well manuscripts addressing the evolution of fungal pathogens.

Submissions that do not comply with author guidelines or those

  • presenting diagnostic methods of any kind for fungal identification
  • lack novelty or are largely confirmatory of the existing literature
  • Clinical Trials or Case Reports

will be returned to authors without external peer-review.
