Aims: 

iCirculation (previously The Journal of Circulation) is a leading scientific forum for publishing transformative cardiovascular research that bridges foundational discovery, clinical innovation, and global population health. iCirculation is dedicated to accelerating the pace of scientific advancement by disseminating high-impact, rigorous, and multidisciplinary knowledge that directly improves the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. It is published quarterly online by Scilight Press.

Scope:

iCirculation welcomes submissions of original research, insightful reviews, and pioneering trial designs across the entire spectrum of cardiovascular medicine and science. We are particularly committed to publishing work that demonstrates a clear path to clinical application or provides a fundamental mechanistic understanding of disease processes. Our scope encompasses, but is not limited to, the following key areas:

  • Basic and Translational Science: Pioneering research in vascular biology, cardiac electrophysiology, myocardial function, metabolism, inflammation, immunology, and genetics. We prioritize studies that elucidate novel molecular and cellular mechanisms and successfully translate these findings into therapeutic strategies.
  • Clinical Research: Landmark clinical trials (from Phase I to large-scale outcomes studies), rigorous registries, and sophisticated cohort analyses that redefine clinical practice. We seek studies that challenge existing paradigms and provide robust evidence for new interventions in coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, valvular heart disease, and vascular medicine.
  • Population Health and Prevention: High-impact research in epidemiology, prevention science, health policy, and implementation science. Studies that address global cardiovascular health disparities, social determinants of health, and strategies for primordial, primary, and secondary prevention at a population level are welcome.
  • Interventional Cardiology and Surgery: Cutting-edge advances in percutaneous coronary and structural heart interventions, endovascular therapy, and cardiac surgery. This includes innovations in device technology, imaging guidance, and hybrid procedures.
  • Cardiovascular Imaging and Diagnostics: Novel applications and validations of non-invasive and invasive imaging modalities (e.g., echocardiography, CMR, CT, nuclear, AI-enhanced imaging) and biomarker discovery for improved disease characterization, risk stratification, and personalized medicine.
  • Heart Failure and Cardiomyopathies: From molecular mechanisms of myocardial injury and repair to advanced therapies including mechanical circulatory support and heart transplantation.
  • Arrhythmias and Electrophysiology: Fundamental insights into cardiac conduction, as well as clinical advances in ablation techniques, device therapy (pacemakers, ICDs, CRT), and pharmacologic management.
  • Vascular Biology and Disease: Investigations on atherosclerosis, hypertension, pulmonary hypertension, aortic disease, and peripheral vascular disease.
  • Emerging Fields: We have a dedicated interest in disruptive technologies and emerging fields, including:
    • Artificial Intelligence and Digital Health: AI-driven diagnostics, digital therapeutics, wearables, and remote patient monitoring.
    • Regenerative Medicine and Gene Therapy: Novel approaches for tissue engineering, cell-based therapies, and genetic manipulation.
