Aims & Scope

Aims:

International Journal of Applied Violent and Criminal Behavior (IJAVCB) aims to publish topics related to the causes, consequences, evaluations, and development of violent and criminal offenders. In doing so, the IJAVCB is interested in both quantitative and qualitative methodologies, with a particular emphasis placed on research that has a broad application to the understanding and treatment of criminal offenders. It is published quarterly online by Scilight Press.

Scope:

IJAVCB encourages submissions that cover a wide array of topics and that use high-quality research designs to address novel research questions. A central focus will be on the use of strong methodologies that are used to answer interdisciplinary issues germane to those interested in criminal justice and criminal justice topics. IJAVCB is designed to inform not only the academic audience, but also is widely consumed by practitioners from different areas. As such, each manuscript should have a connection to real-world applications.

IJAVCB publishes research that covers a broad range of issues, including, but not limited to:

  • Etiology of crime and delinquency
  • Consequences associated with antisocial behavior
  • Program evaluations of crime prevention and rehabilitation efforts
  • Developmental pathways to violent criminal offending
  • Meta-analyses of key criminological issues
  • Research notes focused on specific methodological and/or statistical concepts
  • Criminal justice system responses to unlawful behavior
