Medical Acoustics and Imaging (MAI) is a gold open access, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to advancing research and innovation in medical acoustics, biomedical imaging, and intelligent healthcare technologies. The journal publishes research that improves the understanding, development, and clinical translation of acoustic and imaging technologies for disease diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment.
Acoustic and imaging technologies are integral to modern medicine, enabling non-invasive diagnosis, real-time visualization, image-guided intervention, therapeutic applications, and quantitative assessment of biological structures and functions. Advances in ultrasound, computational imaging, artificial intelligence, multimodal imaging, and biomedical engineering are continuously expanding their capabilities and clinical applications in precision healthcare.
MAI aims to bridge fundamental science, engineering innovation, and clinical translation by publishing research that advances the principles, methodologies, and applications of medical acoustics and biomedical imaging. The journal welcomes interdisciplinary studies spanning acoustics, imaging science, biomedical engineering, artificial intelligence, biology, and clinical medicine, particularly those integrating emerging technologies such as advanced materials, photonics, robotics, data science, microelectronics, and precision medicine. Contributions involving innovative methodologies, computational frameworks, open datasets, imaging standards, and reproducible research practices are also encouraged. It is published quarterly online by Scilight Press.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
Medical Acoustics and Acoustic Technologies
Biomedical Imaging and Intelligent Imaging Technologies
Clinical Translation and Biomedical Applications
The journal publishes original research articles, reviews, perspectives, technical notes, short communications, and other scholarly contributions.
Editorial decisions are based on scientific quality, originality, technical rigor, reproducibility, and contribution to the field. MAI is committed to maintaining a rigorous, transparent, and fair peer-review process while promoting research integrity, accessibility, and responsible scientific communication.
