Aims:
Translational Photonics aims to advance the translational impact of photonics across the life sciences, material sciences, and othern disciplines of photonics. The journal seeks to:
- provide a high-quality, gold open-access platform for peer-reviewed original research, technical methods papers, and reviews
- accelerate interdisciplinary innovation at the intersection of optics, laser technology, biology, medicine, biotechnology, cosmetics, pharmacy, and material sciences
- promote photonics breakthroughs from fundamental mechanisms to preclinical and clinical applications
- strengthen emerging fields such as optical diagnostics, photonic therapies, laser imaging, and AI-driven biomedical optics
- support the integration of artificial intelligence into optical imaging, biomedical-optics design, cosmetic and pharmaceutical testing, and laser material processing
- foster collaboration among academic researchers, clinicians, and industry partners to translate photonic innovations into real-world biomedical and healthcare applications as well as laser material processing
Scope:
Translational Photonics encompasses the full spectrum of photonic technologies applied to the life sciences and material sciences—from fundamental photonics to preclinical and clinical translation. The journal publishes research across biology, medicine, pharmacy, cosmetics, biochemistry, biotechnology, and material processing that uses photonics-based approaches for imaging, diagnosis, therapy, molecular analysis, and material processing including nanomachining.
Its scope includes, but is not limited to:
- optical microscopy, advanced nonlinear laser microscopy, and laser nanoscopy
- laser tomography methods, including photoacoustic tomography, confocal microscopy, multiphoton tomography, and optical coherence tomography
- LED-based and laser-based medical and cosmetic procedures
- photonics-enabled diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, including image-guided interventions
- optical nanobiotechnology
- photonics applications in cosmetics and pharmaceutics
- AI-assisted optical imaging, diagnostics, and medical treatments
- biomedical-optics design
- preclinical and clinical investigations employing photonic methods
- laser material processing such as macro-. micro- and nanomachining
The journal publishes rigorously peer-reviewed original research articles, reviews, technical methods papers, and letters to the editor. It is published quarterly online by Scilight Press.
