Photosynthesis and Plant Ecophysiology: From Mechanisms to Ecosystem Responses

Photosynthesis is a fundamental process driving plant growth, productivity, and terrestrial ecosystem functioning. Understanding the mechanisms underlying photosynthetic performance and their interactions with environmental conditions is essential for addressing the challenges plants face in a rapidly changing world.

This Special Issue is associated with the International Workshop of Photosynthesis Ecophysiology, to be held on 27–29 November 2026 at Huazhong Agricultural University, Wuhan, China. It aims to bring together recent advances in photosynthesis and plant ecophysiology, providing a platform for researchers to share new findings, explore emerging concepts, and advance our understanding of plant responses to environmental challenges.

We welcome original research articles and review papers addressing various aspects of photosynthesis and plant ecophysiology, from fundamental mechanisms to whole-plant performance and ecosystem responses.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • From Photosynthesis to Productivity, Survival and WUE
  • CO₂ diffusion
  • Light Reactions and Carbon Metabolism
  • New Technical and Theoretical Developments
