Aims & Scope

Materials for the Environment (MFE) is an international, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to the design, development, characterization, and application of materials that address critical environmental challenges and support global sustainability transitions. The journal aims to serve as a multidisciplinary platform bridging materials science, environmental science, chemistry, engineering, and biotechnology, with a strong emphasis on materials that enable environmental protection, pollution control, resource recovery, climate mitigation, and circular economy solutions. MFE publishes high-quality original research, reviews, and perspectives covering both fundamental advances and practical applications of environmentally relevant materials.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Materials for Environmental Remediation and Pollution Control
  • Sustainable and Green Materials
  • Energy and Climate-Related Environmental Materials
  • Circular Economy and Resource Recovery Materials
  • Advanced Functional and Smart Materials for Environmental Applications
  • Environmental Interfaces, Toxicity, and Safety
  • Emerging Technologies and Data-Driven Approaches
