Aims & Scope

Aims:

The journal Progress in Diabetes Research (PDR) is an open access, peer-reviewed journal committed to the highest standards of scientific exchange across all facets of diabetes research. PDR has as its audience basic and clinical scientists who wish to publish original research into the causation, treatment, and sequela of diabetes. We recognize that our understanding of the etiology of this disorder is undergoing constant change as is its treatment. A major question is whether the long-established classification of diabetes as Type I and Type II and its subsequent clinical characterizations regarding the age of onset with or without concomitant states of obesity is accurate and sufficient. We are dedicated to the proposition that, like the long-held metaphor of blind men seeking knowledge are able to touch only small portions of an elephant, remains valid. New knowledge is essential to solving the riddle of the syndrome we call diabetes. This journal quarterly publishes a broad range of content by Scilight Press, including original research, comprehensive reviews, short reviews, expert commentary, and letters to the editor. We welcome you to contribute your knowledge to this journal for rigorous peer review and rapid publication.

Scope:

The new scientific information we encourage is broad and includes the classification of diabetes mellitus; regulation of islet hormone synthesis and secretion; mechanism of insulin and glucagon action; autoimmune diabetes; genetics of diabetes; diabetes and pregnancy; treatment of type 1 diabetes; pancreas and islet transplantation; treatment of type 2 diabetes; beta cell glucose toxicity; beta cell oxidative stress; diabetic ketoacidosis; hyperglycemic and hyperosmolar syndrome; hypoglycemia and hyperglycemic syndromes; metabolic syndrome; diabetic eye disease; diabetic kidney disease; diabetic neuropathy; diabetic foot and vascular complications; metabolic syndrome; lipodystrophy syndromes; and bariatric surgery and operative procedures.
